Working in law can be rewarding especially if you have a passion for it. There are many different professions that you can choose from that do not require you to spend years in college. Some people choose to become a paralegal while others are in it for the long haul and become attorneys. If you have decided that you want to become a paralegal, there are many programs that you could choose from. Your first step to becoming a paralegal is to earn a certificate or degree, the second is to find on-the-job training, and lastly find a job in the legal field as a court clerk or a paralegal.

There are a lot of programs to choose from in becoming a paralegal. You can choose to take courses online, get a certificate, or get an Associate’s degree. A highly trained paralegal typically makes just under $50,000 a year, and this is if you have obtained either an Associate’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree in the field. This job requires you to have a passion for law and a great attention for detail as well as excellent research skills.


The field of law varies a great deal. If you want to become an attorney, you can study family law, criminal law, disability law, environmental law, and various other types of law. Regardless of the specialty that you choose from it is your job as their lawyer to inform them of their rights. A first year attorney typically makes about $130,000 a year if they work for a reputable firm and their specialty is currently in high demand.

In order to become a lawyer, you must first obtain a Bachelor’s degree in history or another subject in the liberal arts field. Once you obtain your degree you will have to choose a law school in order to obtain your law degree from. You will then have to take the bar exam in order to become a licensed lawyer in your state. Once you have passed the bar, you can go on to start your own firm, work for another firm, or work for an agency that helps people find legal help who need it most.
