Last week all the offerings were slow blues. This week, not so much.
If you want the full introduction to the band, you can start this at the beginning. If you don't particularly care what their names are, advance to about the two minute mark where you'll find "Mimi" Castillo getting the crowd worked up before the opening bars of I Still Be Diggin' On James Brown.
This a tight little tune. It might seem like you're coming in part way through but you're not. This is all of On the Serious Side.
This was the opening tune on the first Tower of Power album, East Bay Grease, and it was their signature tune for many years. I had the original vinyl release of that album but I made the mistake of loaning it to someone and never saw it again. He was a tenor sax player and I hope he at least put it to good use. Knock Yourself Out. Have a good weekend.

I'm not gonna listen to this tonight, and not just because it's almost 2 a.m. and I'm tired, but because I heard Mavis Staples tonight at the Regina Folk Festival and omfg, when I'm 73 years of age I hope to hell I can still belt out the tunes! What an inspiration!
