Friday night Count Basie blogging

| 3 Comments | No TrackBacks

This first clip is a duet with Oscar Peterson.

Watch the bass player steal the show. Watch the trombone player steal it back (with a little help from his friends).

Since I began doing these Friday night music posts I think I've put up more versions of this song than any other: Every Day I Have the Blues. This features Joe Williams on vocals. Have a good weekend.

Music. That is.

Booty's Blues is just so much fun to watch and listen to. Thanks.

I am wondering where you got this. I saw, in a summer in the early 70's, a series of shows that Oscar Peterson performed on. He was with his trio in the 1st show then he did one with Count Basie and another with Big Joe Turner. He did several others as well and they were on CTV. They were stunning! I inquired about them from CTV but they don't seem to know anything about them. They would, if CTV has the tapes, make an excellent DVD. When I saw this I was wondering if this tune came from this series? I hope so then maybe I could see them all again!

I am wondering where you got this.

I just found it on YouTube. I believe I've seen mention of programs that Peterson did for the BBC that are available on DVD but I'm working from memory of comments threads that I scanned quickly.
