Scott Tribe has already done the math and pointed out the error. But if the only comment on this situation we're going to get from a blog that's ostensibly about politics is a post that sneers at another media outlet for actually taking voters seriously, then I figure Dan Cook deserves a little more snark for not being able to correctly figure out that 20,000 is actually .06% of 33,000,000.
Self-correcting-blogospheric-type update:
Thanks to Scott in comments for letting me know that the title of Dan Cook's post has been corrected without any indication that a change has been made. Apparently those internet traditions of which we're all aware only apply to us common folk and not our betters who are actually paid by the corporate media to do this blogging thing. For those who are just arriving, the original title of Cook's post was: 0.0006% of Canadians are mad. And as Scott also points out, the current membership of that Facebook group is now over 33,000 making the appropriate figure 0.1%. But that's a correction the Globe didn't bother making.
You'd-almost-think-someone-was-paying-attention update:
There is now an update to Dan Cook's post acknowledging the increased size of the Facebook group. But there's still no indication that the original post had the arithmetic wrong. Baby steps, I guess.

LOL. pogge, I tried going there a little earlier to snark, but the Grope has cut off comments to Cook's blogpost.
Got any more white feathers to send him/them?
Oh, and a PS: About that 33 million? Is that the total population of Canada now? If so: babies now vote?
Cook referred to "Canadians." I used the word "voters."
PPS: Did you notice, btw, the quite nice photo that ran yesterday with G. Galloway's Ottawa Notebook entry? Teh Parliament Buildings on fire; or, ok, Centre Block photographed through the eternal flame.
Galloway's squib is passive-clueless in the way it recalls the failure of the coalition last year -- as though the media had nothing to do with that.
But the photo is quite nice. pogge will know why I'm mentioning this. It's probably in copyright, I guess.
I just updated my blogpost, Pogge:
It appears Dan did notice the little stink raised on his math (or the online editors did) and changed his math without comment or notice of editing.I will snarkily mention he's basing that percentage on the old 20 000 number; the group's now at 33 722 members as of this update.
I joined the Facebook group although I usually think these are just pressure relief valves, but what I find stunning about this group is the number of posts! I posted a comment about Dan Cook's math, then went back to grab it for a friend (about 30 seconds) and it was already 2 pages on. The number of postings has to be in the thousands - this suggests at least those people who have joined this group are engaged.
Harper is on TeeVee tonight with Peter Mansbridge. I hope the boys in the PMO have started to pucker about this one. Me, I've got to go down to Riverdale Farm to see if I can get a white feather to mail to his Harperness.
BTW did you read Kady O'Malley's take down of the Harris-Decima poll that said Canadians were 'Meh' about Proroguing?

"Dan Cook's keen, visual take on the news" ROTFLMAO!
they didn't think to change the blog link, it still has "00006-of-canadians-are-mad"
some evidence remains
now that kids are back in school, maybe this is a teachable moment for eight year olds
maybe this is a teachable moment for eight year olds
Like the ones in the Conservative caucus?
Thank you. I'll be here all week.
Hey -- today, having run into a little trouble yesterday with numbers, Dan Cook decided to try the alphabet. Comments disabled again. Do you suppose they will ever re-enable comments at Dan's place?
I read somewhere yesterday that comments are always disabled on Cook's posts. I'm guessing they've tried to make out like it's a blog because we're currently fashionable. Or something.
Who is Dan Cook, anyway?
I don't know any more about Cook than the short bio at the Globe tells me. I'd never really noticed his existence until yesterday.
And to think, Astral Media Radio in Montreal has no trouble letting legends from the old school go but doesn't mind keeping these Grope & Fail Hacks on the air like Blathering Blatchford and Dan Crook on CJAD.
It's no wonder responsible media has an uphill climb to be heard louder than today's typically corporate media.
