McGuinty turns down HST public hearings
Premier Dalton McGuinty won't agree to hold public hearings on the HST across Ontario, but says he expects voters will pass judgment on the new tax in 2011.
...
McGuinty said Wednesday that people can call talk radio or write letters to the editor ...
If I were a political opponent of McGuinty's, I'm pretty sure I could get a lot of mileage out of that remark. He might as well have said "talk to the hand."

That's just rude, eh? He would have been safer not to throw in the details -- talk radio and letters to the editor. Dripping with condescension, eh?
Och, Absolute McGuinty, most boring person on planet.
He should have just said "no" and left it at that.
We already know what public hearings would produce: a pile of recommendations that say "if you implement it, make sure it's modified until it looks just like the sales tax situation today."
Politically, it's a hot potato being bounced around in public constantly. So of course he won't go for hearings.
This is bad time to implement a blended tax. Sadly, the person who will get mileage out of this is Hudak. Ugh.
