The change in the administration in the United States presents an opportunity for us to pretend that doing nothing about greenhouse gas emissions for the last three years was actually a reasonable approach. Now if we can only figure out how to ensure that Obama doesn't actually do anything either, we'll be all set.

It is odd, but it seems that the Tory strategy is to say to Obama,"Fine, if you want to cap the rest of North America, no problem. Just leave the oil sands alone." In other words, impose even more severe targets on the other sectors of the economy if you feel the need to "do something", but the oil sands are off limits. I wonder how well that will be received?

They don't need Obama to do anything one way or the other. Reality does not enter into their equations nor their statements.
