I've been tempted to write a post with that title on a number of occasions. Robocalls are telephone spam which is spam that's even more intrusive than the crap that shows up in either my real or virtual mailbox. Now there's a certain amount of irony in that title.

Did you know that ADADs, or automatic dialling announcing devices are strictly controlled by the CRTC?
Check out the front of your white pages on the phone companies responsibilities, they HAVE to stop those calls if they are used for anything like sales. The machines are allowed for public service like announcing that there will be a snow day at school and that is it. The CRTC helped me get Bell to shut down one that was calling me.
Unfortunately, it only applies to recorded messages, and not predictive dialling where they dial 5 people and connect one.
To the point of the post, what goes for public discourse nowadays is absolutely worthless. Wrong, invalid, or made up statistics pumped out by made up organizations or organizations who have no qualms about being unethical...
It makes me sad to think that we might never heal this rift created in our country....

I did and sure enough, the use of ADADs is prohibited for purposes of solicitation. That would explain the convoluted lengths some of them go to in order to claim that they're giving something away or reporting information I need to know.
