Can you say chutzpah?

WASHINGTON -- -- Resigning Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales left the scandal-scarred Justice Department on Friday, declaring himself hopeful about its mission of ferreting out crime and defending the truth.

...

"Over the past 2 1/2 years, I have seen tyranny, dishonesty, corruption and depravity of types I never thought possible," Gonzales said Friday morning in remarks at Bolling Air Force Base. But, he said, "Every time I see a glimmer of the evil man can do, I see the defenders of liberty, truth and justice who stand ready to fight it."

I knew you could.

Those "entities" are like totally f****ed up, aren't they?

They were so cocky ...

"That's not the way the world really works anymore [...] We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

... that they failed to predict that they might get trapped into those "realities". And that's the irony: they ended up being the only ones who still believe in those. History's actors indeed! More like History buffoons!

He's a stupid, lying prick, and will go down in history as the worst attorney general in the entire history of the United States.

The only time history will not revile him is when the sun goes nova, the earth is destroyed, and some other race of creatures that never knew us are the ones who will be writing the history.

Oops! Someone just told me that, shame on me, I can't swear properly (one * too many) ... and can't insult properly either (that should read: 'History's buffoons').

Well, we're kinda loose around here, FurGaia. What's an asterisk between friends? ;-)

thwap, I'm really hoping that we don't have to wait for the historians, although I agree with you about what they will say. In the meantime, I'm hoping that Gonzales still has a few appointments with congrssional committees, and maybe with the courts -- those courts to whose subversion he did his best to contribute.

Gonzales seems like a failed, flash-in -the-pan phenomenon (like Kim Campbell?) His tenure was mercifully short, and now congress is gridlocked on a successor, I saw somewhere, and everything is going nowhere fast. But there is an important resonace to Gonzales - he could be the icon for all the "replacements" - the loyalists recruited into top (and middle and bottom) positions by the neocons in every government agency from agriculture to zeebras. That will take some un-doing.
