This has been another edition of simple answers to simple questions.
(After all that's already been written about this, it simply boggles my mind that we're now hearing from someone who is both politician and paid pundit who apparently either has neglected to read the legislation or wants to pretend that if parliamentarians screwed up when they wrote the damn bill and passed it, it's somebody else's problem. Mayrand can only follow the law. It's up to parliament to change it.)

This, I believe, marks your first foray into non-blues and non-administrative blogging since THE INCIDENT.
I welcome you back, sir.
Gee. We have lift-off.
Sheila Copps is doing both "voter fraud" and "women should disrobe for male authority figures" at the same time!
Like, there is no other way to verify identity short of peering at someone's face? I can't actually remember a time when that was how my identity was verified at a polling station. Anyone?
And anyone who has been following the scandals that have come tumbling out of the U.S. Department of Justice for the last nine months or so has got to know that sexing up "voter fraud" is a total crock. There are serious studies showing that the numbers of true fraud cases are derisory, while at the same time we are discovering that the U.S. administration has been running a serious program to subvert the right to vote of citizens who are members of minority groups.
Tim:
I believe you're correct and I thank you. I followed CC's link to Copps' op-ed and I just couldn't help myself.
I expected better of the NDP than to go along with cheap politicking based on disingenuousness and bigotry.
But I'm young. I'll grow out of it....
Yes, obscurantist -- the NDP's agreement with the other parties is a real problem for me too. Later today I think I shall start writing a few annoyed messages to some people.
Count me disgusted. My (considerable) negative feelings about the niqāb are outweighed by my feelings about dishonest pandering to bigotry and ignorance.
