They're on to us. We bloggers have finally been exposed for the disturbed and anti-social individuals we are. Apparently we're terrorists, too. Jim Elve has the details (and a not inconsiderable rebuttal).

Thanks for that, pogge. Laugh-out-loud-funny. The prof is clearly out to lunch.
I thought this was a fine and really well-earned conclusion to Jim Elve's rebuttal:
What seems particularly unfortunate is that Professor Keren goes out of his way to denigrate personal expression, literary effort and peaceful political activism. It bothers me that an educator would take such a negative position on such positive activities.
One caution, though: Yes, the guy is either ignorant or ... something worse. But the hostility is unmistakable, and the hostility is out there. A lot of powerful people don't like us very much, would be happy to do mean things to us, and we know how clever they can be at manipulating ignorance.
But sheesh. A professor of communications who uses Don Quixote as a pejorative. Man, that is sad.
Ooh. I feel an urge to tilt at a windmill coming on! ;-)
Damn. We've been outed. I guess this is the only thing left for us anti-social terrists.
What I found particularly amusing was an academic complaining bitterly, twice in the one press release no less, about bloggers' "excessive use of words"!
Oh, no, Mr. Pot, please say it ain't so! I guess words should only be used excessively by the properly accredited authorities designated to do so.
Keren is a hack who doesn't know the subject matter of his own research. That's also what I told the Edmonton Sun when they contacted me for an interview today.
The book was a complete waste of time and money.
What is worse, he totally ignored the Canadian political blogosphere - so much for a professor at U of C!
That Macleans paper-thingy wrote about PLG's comment.
So it did. OK, that's PLG's fifteen minutes. Who's next?
Actually we haven't done too badly on our 15 minutes of fame. The blog as a whole got it's time from CBC Newsworld for our election coverage. Antonia Zerbisias was kind enough to give me mine last July and I think at least Tim and probably pogge also got some ink from her as well.
Hey, if nothing else at least we're all legends in our own minds.
Whooee! Yer gettin' sum o' yer own 15 minute glory today, PogFeller. I follered a link-up from Macleans bigass story t' get t' yer boog jest now.
I reckon this numbnuts perfesser's laffin' all the way t' the bank with the advance on his dumbass book an' all the free publicity he's gettin' from pissed-off boogers.

Poor old Jim is out to lunch!!
Actually, he has a point. Sure, this kind of nonsense might not do much for wossname's academic standing, but controversy sells.
. . . woohoo! I got my three seconds o' fame!
*big grin*
Oh, sure, as soon as I leave everyone gets famous!
PLG, now that you are having your moment in the sun, expect media attention and be prepared for the tough questions:
"So, 'Purple Library Guy', is it the library which you inhabit that is purple, or are you in fact a purple guy who frequents a library?"
I'd be happy to be your media liaison.
Heh. I'm a purple guy who works at a library.
This is sort of amusing. Via Eugene.
