Union applies to certify another Quebec Wal-Mart
A union has filed applications to certify workers at a Wal-mart store in Gatineau, Quebec, near Hull. The United Food and Commercial Workers Canada union tabled two certification applications with the Quebec Labour Relations Commission to represent workers in the main section of the Wal-Mart store in Gatineau, as well as for store's Tire and Lube Express shop.
If the threat to close the Jonquiére store was supposed to slow the union down, it doesn't seem to have worked.

Apparently these people don't value their jobs much.... not that I blame them.
Actually, I think this is good. Given W-M's tendency to shut down stores that unionise, eventually we should be able to drive the chain right out of Canada.

I think workers in Quebec are the most likely to get their backs up at Wal-Mart in a genuinely political way -- entire communities apparently have, over the threat in Jonquiere. This could be early stages of something very good.
